Last of the English Roses

In the ‘94
We all sang
Skipping and dancing hand in hand
Yeah with all the boys together
And all the girls together

She’s the last of the English roses
She’s the last of the English roses

Christmas is just around the corner

And I haven't bought one single present. I've been too busy coughing my brains out and stuffing myself with antibiotics.

Ho, ho, ho.

A Matter of Perspective

Are things finally coming around?

Hoping to be able to get back to dance classes on Saturday.

Back to Bayswater

Ahh... So much cold and so many days in bed make my thoughts fly all the way back to London and rediscover Bayswater, Baker Street, Oxford Street, Hyde Park, Camden Town, Canary Wharf... And God, how I miss Serpentine Gallery and Pret a Manger!

Did you know Winston Churchill lived in Bayswater? Always learning, thanks to Wikipedia.

A pint of Guiness

Now, there's something I wont be tasting in the next few weeks.

Worst tonsillitis ever!

Sun is shining

We'll lift our heads and give jah praises
Sun is shining, the weather is sweet
Make you want to move your dancing feet.

And it's almost friday!

Half Full Glass

I wonder if it is possible to be a "half full" kind of person these days. I spent four days blissfully without reading/watching/listening to the news and then I return to reality, only to learn more about car accidents, deaths and diseases (now it's tuberculosis?!).

On the other hand, heavy rain gave us a break. That kind of makes things even.

Bonsai day

Today is my b-day! 24 years have passed, with roots firmly dipped in the soil and head waving with the wind. Send in another 100!

Thank you all for the beautiful words. I'll cover you with kisses by dinner time!

Gourmet finding of the year 2009

Soy beans! If the so called magic beans from the tale were those green, tasty little things, I would have also given away the cow! Ok, I'm overacting. But they're good. Really good. Not as good as chocolate, but close.

Word of the day: Colorize! Otherwise, we'll turn grey as the bloody sky.

Yellow brick road

Next step: find some free time to put on my ruby slippers, click my heels and find myself in Serralves to check the Augusto Alves da Silva photography exhibition.

Bastet or Luna The Cat

I don´t feel like worshiping her when she becomes Sekhmet and hits the dog, eats the plants, scratches my shoes or steals part of my dinner, but most of the time she is true royalty, with wide green eyes and a very cool temper.

London | Londinium | LDN

I wander through each chartered street,
Near where the chartered Thames does flow,
And mark in every face I meet
Marks of weakness, marks of woe.

In every cry of every Man,
In every infant's cry of fear,
In every voice, in every ban,
The mind-forged manacles I hear.

How the Chimney-sweeper's cry
Every blackening Church appalls,
And the hapless Soldier's sigh
Runs in blood down Palace walls.
But most, through midnight streets I hear
How the youthful Harlot's curse
Blasts the new-born Infant's tear

And blights with plagues the Marriage hearse.

London, by William Blake.

Freakonomics

Never thought it was possible to find cheating teachers with an algorithm or to measure human honesty rate (a comforting 83%) through the analysis of bagel sells. Learned that, along with many other freakish social and economic facts and I'm only on page 85.
Wonder what comes with SuperFreakonomics.

Reflexions over bad weather

Bad weather makes me feel good, sometimes. Ok, heavy rain, falling nonstop, is depressing, but those cold winter days can, in way, be rather inspiring. At least to my imaginative stomach: watching clouds floating over the celling makes think of hot baked cakes, dinners with family and friends and Christmas delicacies, all at the same time.

Kinda feeling like an elephant in a china store, today. That's life, I guess!
Gladly, I have this soothing picture of Claudia to post.

Some days are particularly colorful, as if summer could last forever.
Cheers to the great days of 2007, full of books, photographs, smiles, and lots, lots of coffee breaks, all over the beautiful city of Oporto!

Ghost

First of all there is Blue. Later there is White, and then there is Black, and before the beginning there is Brown. Brown broke him in, Brown taught him the ropes, and when Brown grew old, Blue took over.

S(h)elfish

"And whenever I'm in a situation where I'm wearing the same as 600 other people and doing the same thing as 600 other people, looking back, I always found ways to make myself different, whether it be having a red lining inside of my jacket, having red shoes, it hasn't changed."

Jeremy Irons

Procrastinate: [formal] to wait a long time before doing something that you must do. I know I've got to deal with the problem at some point - I'm just procrastinating.
